Semiconductor @ Fabrica

I went to check out the installation by Semiconductor at the Fabrica gallery today as I had recently seen some of their work on TV and had thought it was interesting. The exhibition was more of a science exhibit than a bit of art really. The main hall was filled with a large screen onto which was projected images taken of the surface of the sun. The soundtrack of the piece reveals the hidden forces at play upon the solar surface and creates a symphony by the sun by directly translating the brightness of the image into audio frequencies. Also showing was Magnetic Movie, the piece I had seen on TV. As a bunch of scientists talk about magnetism colourful magnetic waves appear on the screen illustrating their points. Finally there is some magnets and a theremin you can have a play with.
